Speaking of bad experiences, here comes a story of our last night in Belize. After spoiling ourselves to a $300 island hopping we were set on finding the most budget friendly accomodation possible for the next few nights. That's how we ended up in the cheapest hostel in Placencia, Traveller's Inn. The room was the size of a closet, but that was not the problem. What bothered us were the walls so thin and full of cracks that we could hear every whisper of our neighbours; the place hasn't been cleaned for the past decade, filled with dust and spiderwebs; there were various insects crawling and flying around; it smelled of cigarettes, urine and mold... I don't even want to get started on the bathroom! Somehow, bunkered in our sleeping bags, with perfume and mosquito repellent sprayed all over, we survived the night and at 6am we were out of that scary place to catch a water taxi to Mango Creek. We continued our trip on a bus to Punta Gorda with our Italian friends, Ornella and Simone. After bumping into more of our travelling companions, Anne & Anders from Denmark, we left Belize on a boat to multicultural Livingston.
